Judicial case managers' standards of conduct

Judicial Council has approved these standards of conduct for judicial case managers.  

Standards of conduct 

Judicial Case Managers are an extension of the Provincial judiciary, and shall: 

  1. be bound by the Code of Ethics of the Justices of the Peace of the Province of British Columbia; 

  2. not show favouritism or prejudice towards anyone; 

  3. be forthright, honest, courteous, and cooperative; 

  4. respect confidentiality; 

  5. not pre-judge the accused nor encroach on his/her rights; 

  6. ensure that due process of law be as expeditious as possible; 

  7. endeavour to schedule trials to minimize inconvenience to all parties; 

  8. dress in accordance with accepted court practice; 

  9. understand and adhere to the limitations of the office; and 

  10. conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
