Chief Judge Gillespie has issued an update effective today to Notice 03 Judicial Case Managers Assignment of Duties Pursuant to s. 11 of the Provincial Court Act. Judicial case managers schedule hearings and preside in some pre-trial court appearances. The update clarifies that for adjournments, self-represented accused who are in custody, no matter the reason, should have their application heard by a judge. It also clarifies that judicial case managers do not have authority to adjourn small claims settlement conferences.
