Chief Judge Melissa Gillespie has announced the appointment two judicial justices.

It is my great pleasure and privilege to announce that the Lieutenant Governor in Council has signed Orders in Council appointing two judicial justices to the Provincial Court. The new judicial justice appointments are Gurmail Gill and Wesley Perrin.

Judicial Justice Gill

Judicial Justice Gill will be sworn in on April 21, 2026 and assigned to the Justice Centre. 

Graduating from UBC law school in 1983, Judicial Justice Gill practiced law for 10 years. Appointed as a judge in 1994, Judicial Justice Gill served as the Regional Administrative Judge in Surrey from 2007 to 2009, and then the Associate Chief Judge from 2009 to 2016. During his term as the Associate Chief Judge, he chaired the Judicial Administrative Committee, was a member of Judicial Council, and a member of the Canadian Council of Chief Judges. During the time he was a senior judge, he obtained his LLM from Osgoode Hall, focussing on mediation. For three years, he also served as the Senior Judge representative on the Provincial Court Judges’ Association. Judicial Justice Gill is an exceptional colleague and an inspiring judicial leader.

Judicial Justice Perrin

Judicial Justice Perrin will be sworn in on April 21, 2026 and assigned to the Justice Centre and traffic. 

Judicial Justice Perrin has been a practicing lawyer in Prince George since he was called to the bar in May 2020. He has worked as a criminal defence lawyer representing a myriad of clients in the northern region of the province, on bail and trial matters. Before attending law school, Judicial Justice Perrin obtained a geology degree. He appeared frequently in virtual bail courts as duty counsel.
